During the early days of the Croatian War of Independance, Hela Martinić sought shelter as a refugee in Australia. However, after learning about the mysterious circumstances surrounding the recent activities of her old friend Vera Kralj, she decides to return to Zagreb and try and solve the case for herself, as everyone else is too busy wondering about their safety and other wartime anxieties. However, upon further investigation, she discovers that Vera is now involved in the workings of a secret separatist organization, that steals organs from wounded Croatian veterans.
